The Shop is the heart of Olin’s "learning-by-doing" philosophy. It is a place where our students—from their first semester—transition from consumers of technology to creators of it. Whether they are building autonomous underwater vehicles or reimagining sustainable energy hardware, the Shop provides the tools, the safety culture, and the "Shop Assistant" mentorship necessary to turn a conceptual "what if" into a functional "here it is." Students, faculty, and staff and their collaborators come together to build, and solve real-world challenges. This environment sparks creativity in courses, research, student clubs, and entrepreneurial ventures.
