Fall 2014
 

Five orchestral arrangements for 19 players -- flute, oboe, clarinet, tenor sax, 2 bass clarinets, trumpet, baritone, bass trombone, 4 violins, viola, 2 cellos, piano, and 2 percussionists on timpani, marimba, glockenspiel, snare drum, bass drum, tambourine, and triangle.

  • Dvorak Serenáda in d minor, Op. 44 (Moderato, quasi marcia).  Dvorak wrote his Serenade Op. 44 for 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, contrabassoon, 3 horns, cello and double bass. 
  • Dvorak Serenáda in E major, Op. 22 (Moderato).  Dvorak scored the Serenade Op. 22 for orchestral strings (34 violins, 14 violas, 12 celli, 6 double basses). 
  • J.S. Bach/Holst Fugue à la Gigue.  Bach originally wrote the Fugue in G major, BWV 577, for organ.  Gustav Holst arranged it for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, tuba, and strings (34 violins, 14 violas, 12 celli, 6 double basses). 
  • Ramin Djawadi Theme song from Game of Thrones.  Djawadi scored the Game of Thrones theme song for alto, tenor, and bass winds, horn, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, harp, 2 toms, and strings.
  • Wagner Ride of the Valkyries.  Wagner composed Ride of the Valkyries for 2 piccolos, 2 flutes, 3 oboes, English horn, 3 clarinets, bass clarinet, 3 bassoons, 8 horns, 3 trumpets, 4 trombones, tuba, timpani, triangle, cymbal, snare drum, and strings (34 violins, 14 violas, 12 celli, 6 double basses).

 

Spring 2015
 

Two orchestral arrangements for 19 players -- flute, oboe, clarinet, tenor sax, 2 bass clarinets, trumpet, bass trombone, 4 violins, viola, 3 cellos, piano, and 2 percussionists on timpani, marimba, glockenspiel, snare drum, bass drum, tambourine, and triangle for the Prokofiev and on timpani, marimba, glockenspiel, snare drum, 4 pitched toms, bass drum, cymbal, bongos, congas, timbales, tambourine, cowbell, and triangle.

  • Prokofiev Montagus and Capulets (from Romeo and Juliet, op. 64ter).  Prokofiev wrote his Montagus and Capulets for piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, English horn, 2 bassoons, contrabassoon, 2 trumpets, cornet, 4 horns, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, and strings (38 violins, 14 violas, 12 cellos, and 8 double basses).
  • Bernstein Symphonic Dances (Prologue and Somewhere).  Bernstein based the Symphonic Dances on the score to his musical West Side Story.  The Prologue is scored for 2 flutes, piccolo, 2 oboes, English horn, Eb clarinet, 2 Bb clarinets, bass clarinet, alto sax, 2 bassoons, contrabassoon, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, xylophone, vibraphone, percussion, piano, harp, and strings (38 violins, 14 violas, 12 cellos, and 8 double basses. Somewhere uses a somewhat smaller orchestral palette consisting of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bass clarinet, bassoons, contrabassoon, horns, trumpets, trombones, tuba, timpani, vibraphone, percussion, piano, harp, and strings.
